Invitation To Join The Lilavati Contest

Invitation to join the Lilavati contest

We are inviting all Filipino Math enthusiasts to join the 4th Lilavati Poetry Contest of the Institute for the Advancement of Vedic Mathematics (IAVM).

This is another competition where the Filipinos can also excel.

As stated in the contest poster, an entry may be an original poem, rhyme, or riddle about Math, written in English or a native language and it must have at least four lines. The solution must be supplied whether as part of the poem or provided separately. All entries must be submitted not later than June 24, 2024 to with subject: “Lilavati 2024 – category_”.

The contestants  will be divided into 5 categories:

Below 8 years

8 to 10 years

11 to 13 years

14 to 16 years

Judging  shall be based on Math concept, technical skills, creativity, originality and writing skills. The top three entries in each category will receive their certificate of distinction and will be able to present their work in the 10th Online Vedic Math Conference on July 13 to 14, 2024. All other contestants will receive a certificate of participation.

Last year, three students from the Philippines won. Leo Antonio Policarpio of St Mary’s College of Meycauayan came first while John Andrei Martinez of Bancal Integrated School placed third in the 14 to 16 category. Thaniea Jaye Flores of the Cordillera Regional Science High School topped the Open category.  While this was a big improvement over the previous years’ performance where only a teacher from Bacolod City placed in the Open category,  we should aim to equal, if not surpass, our Vedic Mathletes’ record of winning 95% of the awards in the 3rd International Vedic Mathematics Olympiad (IVMO 2023).
