# Over 20,000 Participants in 10 years of Vedic Math competitions

This April 2024, MATH-Inic Philippines marks ten years of organizing national Vedic Math competitions and coordinating Philippine participation in international contests. In these events, more than 20,000 Filipino mathletes joined.

At first, only students from MATH-Inic Center around the Philippines were allowed to participate in the MATH-Inic Challenge National Finals which were staged from 2014 to 2019.

Then MATH-Inic Philippines decided to hold the 1^{st} Philippine National Vedic Mathematics Olympiad at the Malayan High School of Science on August 15, 2019 with James Glover, the chair of the Institute for the Advancement of Vedic Mathematics as the special guest. More than 50 3-man teams competed in 6 grade-level groups.

This event problem inspired IAVM to organize the International Vedic Math Olympiad in 2020. Because of the Covid pandemic, the 1^{st} IVMO was postponed to the following year.

The postponement gave MATH-Inic Philippines the opportunity to put-up two online training events, the MATH-Inic Vedic Mathematics National Challenge and the Philippine National Vedic Mathematics Olympiad which was converted into an individual competition.

Total entries in the national events is more than 12,000 while over 8,000 have joined the international competitions.
